The combative and even indignant responses the questioning elicited exposed the fact that the Jim Herrmann/defensive inadequacy issues have affected Carr to the point of compromising his leadership ability. Let's face it, there exists a very real problem on the defensive side of the ball and it has continued to worsen over the last few years. Carr's refusal to discuss this situation publicly only fuels the flames of suspicion that he is shielding his good friend Jim Herrmann at the expense of the the players, other coaches and the fans. Especially the fans, without whose hard earned dollars the program could not exist. Lloyd Carr forgetting his obligation to the fans is a clear indication of the stress he is feeling concerning this situation. He is in effect tying his future as coach to Jim Hermmann's sinking ship. I hope he is conscious of what he is doing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9455986.post-1111275034280177652005-03-19T18:30:00.000-05:002005-03-19T18:30:00.000-05:00It is not a question of Carty attempting top provo...It is not a question of Carty attempting top provoke Carr to defend Herrmann so much as it is about asking Carr to either accept responsibility for the debacle that our defense became late last season or assign that responsibility elsewhere.
