There's a nice/free article up at PrepSpotlight with impressions on the recent play of the kids on Michigan's AAU teams. Recruits of note for Michigan fans mentioned: Tom Herzog, DeShawn Sims, Tory Jackson, K'len Morris, Dar Tucker, and Alex Legion. Don't let the 1930s web design fool you, these guys go to the games and have connections.

Of note: Sims is moving more towards PF status as he ages. When his name first started popping up as a high-major recruit he was mostly talked about as a wing, but his 6'7" size and advanced post game (plus the dearth of big men on Michigan's radar) now have people referring to him as a combo forward.

Update: Prep Spotlight has a second free article up on James Dews, an Ohio shooting guard who Michigan is on the verge of offering. If Sims is a power forward then Dews seems to be a good fit for Michigan's fifth scholarship in the class of 2006. Dews is a dead-eye perimeter shooter who has been performing at a high level on this summer's AAU circut.
