Former AD Don Canham died Tuesday at 87.

I was nine when Don Canham retired from his post as athletic director at Michigan. At that point in my life I had no idea what an "athletic director" was, so I am not an appropriate person to offer perspective on his life and what it accomplished. You can read the thoughts of people who know better than me at the Detroit News, Free Press, and official UM site.

RIP Don.

Update: Read about Shippensburg vs. Slippery Rock, Canham's brainchild. They've sporadically announced Slippery Rock scores for a long time now, but infrequently in recent years. Bring back the Rock!
Update II: In the Free Press today: Carr on Canham. Plus I missed this Rosenberg article yesterday.
