Well. That was exciting, wasn't it? No twenty point blowout here, just a tight, fantastic overtime game featuring one of the dumbest decisions in NBA Finals history. (The very dumbest according to Bill Simmons, a man who has watched enough basketball to know.)

DO NOT LEAVE ROBERT HORRY DO NOT LEAVE ROBERT HORRY OH GOD YOU LEFT HIM NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

At the time Horry launched the shot above he:

  • Had made more three-pointers in the playoffs than anyone in history.
  • Had made 4 of 5 within the last twenty minutes.
  • Had developed a well-deserved reputation for being one of the greatest clutch shooters in NBA history.
  • Was completely, absolutely, 100% wide open.
One of those things does not belong. I leave it to the reader to decide which. Crushdefied Pistons fan Joey has more at End of the Bench.

Felix Gilette must have watched Game 5 with a steadily sinking feeling after absolutely roasting Big Shot Bob in Slate. Horry had no points through 2.99 quarters of play and then went nuclear. Supersonics Versus The World now looks real smart for backin' BSB. And Give Me The Rock gets it dead on when he compares Horry to Steve Kerr. That's who the man is: the greatest Steve Kerr in NBA history.
